The Society was founded in 1886 and claims to be in the twelfth oldest Operatic Company in the country and certainly the oldest in the West of England.

• Paignton Operatic are pleased to announce our 2011 production of “Boogie Nights” from 2nd June to the 4th June at the Palace Theatre, watch this space for details of rehearsal dates and audition pieces.

Since its founding POADS have provided theatre goers in Paignton with many successful shows including, "Me and My Girl",  "My Fair Lady", "Salad days" "Pirates of Penzance" "Oliver" "Les Miserables" and "West Side Story" We also produce pantomimes.

We have a thriving youth section who took on the very different and diffucult productions"Les Miserables" and "West Side Story" . Both were extremely successful shows and ran to full houses in the recently refurbished Palace Theatre.

We perform concerts annually, mainly to support local charities.
